A few days after the rumor came out that Apple might be introducing a 32GB iPhone in January, iPhone Hacks is reporting that there might be a 4GB model selling at Wal-Mart for only $99.
On the surface, that might sound like a smart idea because Wal-Mart shoppers are not exactly the consumers that would shell out money for a high-end phone.
But, it also goes against the logic of Apple discontinuing its 4GB v1 model when it introduced the 16GB v1. I even predicted that we might even see the 8GB discontinued when the 32GB model comes out since power users, like me, need at lesat 16GB. Currently, I have a little more than 10GB filled on my 16GB iPhone (although it actually works out to be about 14.64 GB).
Even the originator of the rumor, The Boy Genius Report, says to take this with a grain of salt. So, we'll just have to wait and see.
